If there’s one thing to know about Dakota Johnson, it’s that she loves to be out of the box with her fashion choices.
Back in 2019, the actress attended the Toronto International Film Festival for the debut of her film Our Friend, also starring Jason Segel. As she walked down the red carpet, people at the event were stunned by Dakota’s black gown featuring a ruffled tulle skirt. While the
voluminous design element certainly could have been a focal point, it was the sleeveless see-through corset and sweetheart neckline that really took the dress to the next level.
To complement the simple yet risky fashion choice, Dakota accented it with minimalistic jewelry, including a diamond choker and rings. What’s more, she chose to work her dark hair into a messy bun as well. To round out the rest of the look, the Fifty Shades of Grey star wore natural makeup with rosy cheeks and a matching lip color.
Despite the fashion moment being from a few years back, it didn’t stop fans from commenting on it. Unsurprisingly, they had nothing but praise for her red carpet attire on Instagram.
“Best look I’ve ever seen on her absolutely stunning,” one person wrote. “Imagine being that gorgeous … I can’t relate 😭😭😭💓,” another user added. “Omggggg she’s so perfect 😍😍😍,” a different fan replied.
Dakota is nothing if not consistent with her fashion risks, with this being no exception. She’s been known to wear see-through ensembles on a number of occasions, like when the actress wore a crystal corset to the SXSW premiere of Cha Cha Real Smooth in March 2022. She also found herself in an all-sheer black lace jumpsuit when she attended the 2022 Met Gala just two months later.
Essentially, the Persuasion actress knows what works for her audience and will, without a doubt, continue to surprise us in this department.
