ONE mom in her 40s has refused to follow fashion “rules” and wears what she wants to.
Shannon, who goes by the TikTok handle @thislovelylifeofmine, shares fashion inspiration for women in the same age group as herself and wears pieces that reject societal norms.

Shannon posted a video wearing an oversized cardigan, a shiny gold shirt, flared light-wash jeans, and a bunch of gold accessories.
“When people tell me to ‘dress my age,’” text read over the video.
As Shannon posed confidently in her outfit, a viral audio of a man played, saying: “Um, no. Nope, no thank you. I appreciate it but absolutely not.”
She captioned the video: “There is no such thing as dressing your age. Wear what makes you feel good and that’s it.”
People loved Shannon’s style and mindset, and one passionately wrote: “What???? What an ignorant comment. I think you have great style and always look great. I guess they’re jealous. You’re young and beautiful.”
“You look awesome in that,” someone else wrote, and another echoed: “I think you look and dress fantastic!!!”
In other TikToks, Shannon has maintained her goal of being an inspiration to other moms who want to dress confidently.
In one video, she wrote: “If you’ve been lost in the world of being a mom and you’re looking for attainable style ideas to get back to you, hi I’m Shannon. I hope to give you some style inspiration on the daily.”
And in another video, she wore the same jeans and heels from her first video, adding a beige blazer with the cuffs rolled up, saying she wants to help women get out of fashion ruts.
One person commented: “I’m stuck in maternity clothes. I needed this inspiration,” and another added: “I’m having so much fun with clothes again because of you!”
Shannon does shopping hauls to inspire her followers, including one video where she tried on and styled a corset.
“I recently saw this adorable little corset top from Amazon … I absolutely loved this color for fall, so let’s style it,” she said while holding up a rust-colored shirt.
The video cut to Shannon wearing the $25 REORIA sleeveless bustier corset crop tank top, which she paired with high-waisted and light-wash ripped jeans.
“Okay, you guys, this corset top is freaking amazing,” she exclaimed before demonstrating different ways to style it.
She threw an oversized cardigan on top and said: “It’s a great slouchy look. I am loving this for fall.”
Then she offered a dressed-up option, pairing the corset with a trendy satin midi skirt, leather jacket, and Chelsea boots.
In another video, Shannon took on another youthful trend: faux leather.
She ordered a black knee-length faux leather pencil skirt from Amazon.
The $30 Fahsyee bodycon highwaisted skirt looked amazing on Shannon, who paired it with a sleeveless turtleneck and pointed heels.
“This is really comfortable and I kinda like how it looks as far as fit goes,” she said, adding: “This is such a great closet staple, very affordable, something you will wear time and time again.”
Then she transformed the look with a suede moto jacket and knee-high boots, saying: “Just to kind of give you an idea of how I would style it for fall and winter.”
