Javy Baez the victim of nasty Sister Jean breaking ball in hilarious Pitching Ninja edit

Twitter account Pitching Ninja made an edit of Detroit Tigers shortstop Javy Baez striking out on Sister Jean’s first pitch.

When it comes to first pitches before an MLB game, they always get shared on social media. This week, the Chicago Cubs had Sister Jean, who is the Loyola Chicago Ramblers’ team chaplain, threw out the first pitch ahead of their Tuesday game. Sister Jean is 103 years old, so it was a special occasion.

Rob Friedman, better known as Pitching Ninja on Twitter, decided to have some fun with the first pitch. Pitching Ninja posts videos of some of the best pitches of the day. This time, the account decided to edit Detroit Tigers shortstop Javy Baez into the video of Sister Jean’s first pitch. The clip shows Baez…striking out.

Just ruthless.

Baez has had a propensity to strike out quite a bit during his career. In fact, he led all of baseball with 184 in 2021 with the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets.

After his split season with the Cubs and Mets, Baez hit free agency in the loaded shortstop class that also included Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, and Trevor Story. Baez signed a six-year, $140 million contract with the Tigers. The team missed out on the postseason for the eighth consecutive season, and the team fired general manager Al Avila back on Aug. 10.

As of Sept. 29, Baez has recorded a .239 batting average, a .280 on-base percentage, a .390 slugging percentage, 15 home runs, 61 RBI, 127 hits, and 143 strikeouts.

The Tigers conclude their 2022 season on Oct. 5 against the Seattle Mariners.
