Jean M. Pulvino

Jean M. Pulvino, 89, of Dunkirk died Sunday morning (Jan. 1, 2023) at Buffalo General Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born July 5, 1933 in Silver Creek, the daughter of the late Phillip and Stephanie (Iacono) DePasquale.

A lifelong area resident, Jean was a graduate of Silver Creek High School, class of 1953. Jean had been employed as a waitress at the Vineyard Restaurant in Dunkirk and also had worked at the Van Raalte Company in Silver Creek.

There is so much to say about mom, but I’ll make it short and sweet, just like her. Mom will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother. One of warmth and kindness, one of truth, strength, patience, and compassion for her family and friends.

She was also known for her cooking, especially her sauce. When our friends heard she was making it, they would come over just to dip bread in it, hoping to be lucky enough for a plate of sauce and meatballs.

She loved her family, her friends and all her children’s friends who all called her mom. What this comes down to is this. If you met our mother, you would realize right away that she was genuine, wise, caring, funny and anytime you came over to the house she made it feel like home.

Survivors include her husband, Roy D. Pulvino, whom she married July 3, 1954; two sons, Roy D. Jr. (Diloylo) Pulvino of Mesa, AZ and David Michael Pulvino of Dunkirk; her daughter, Stephanie Annette Pulvino of Dunkirk; one sister, Betty Jane Costello of Florida; best friend, Mary Ann Jungquist of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Mark Pulvino; three brothers, Sam, Phillip, and Joseph DePasquale; and one sister, Bertha Alessi.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
