Norwalk dressmaker creates merchandise for brand new professional basketball crew


NORWALK — Clothes designer Devon Spencer and the Connecticut Cobras skilled males’s basketball crew each have labored to raised Norwalk in their very own methods, and now they’re becoming a member of forces.

The Norwalk-based Cobras, in its first season within the minor league basketball group, The Basketball League, premiered its merchandise and warm-up gear, designed by an area artist.

The crew partnered with Norwalk native and dressmaker Devon Spencer to create the Cobras’ merchandise and warm-ups, showcased and bought for the primary time at a sport final month at Brien McMahon Excessive College.


Cobras’ President of Operations Indya Bennett mentioned she first contacted Spencer about making the crew’s merchandise round March.

“We’re trying throughout the neighborhood for any useful resource or alternative that may be reciprocated,” Bennett mentioned. “It was a no brainer as he has his personal producer and he’s fairly profitable in his personal proper. I reached out to him through Instagram, letting him know that is who I’m, what we do, what we want.”

Bennett joined the crew in February after which contacted Spencer, she mentioned.

The minor league crew was based final 12 months by Norwalk native and former New Haven basketball coach Anthony Hill, who coached the Wilbur Cross boys basketball crew from 2009 to 2012.
