Rue Agthonis Debuts At London Fashion Week With AW22 Salon Show

On February 18, Rue Agthonis made its debut at London Fashion Week with a salon show unveiling the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2022 collection at the capital’s exclusive Hotel Café Royal.

Appropriately named “Submerged Fantasy”, the new season’s aesthetic infuses ’70s disco glam with Chanel-esque sophistication, with wild life and marine elements featured throughout. Founded by designer Yanling Sha, a Shanghai native who studied theatre academy in Shanghai as well as art management and fashion design in New York, Rue Agthonis is synonymous to all things sexy and fun that spark excitement.

Pieces from the new collection are made for wearing — the range of looks showcases silhouettes which allow for real freedom of movement while maintaining the brand’s modern yet feminine flare.

Intrigued by the creative elements of the mind, Sha decidedly laid a touch of surrealism upon the AW22 collection. Inspired by the concept of dreams and fantasy, this season emulates reflection within oneself, an act most have gone through during the past two years of pandemic. Through blurred geometric graphics and unknown light and shadows, the collection aims to discover the authenticity that arises when all senses of awareness collide and interact.

In addition to the brand’s signature tweed designs, the Rue Agthonis AW22 collection demonstrates elevated details and texture (ruffles, feathers, slinky fabrics with diamonté embroidery, sequins, and sheer organza), completed with a diverse color palettes incorporating bright tones, understated pastels as well as dramatic blacks.

Emphasizing on the brand’s signature use of texture and luxurious fabrics throughout the collection, Sha reflects within the collection Rue Agthonis’ identity and motto of “Love, Quality, Positive Beauty” whilst enhancing feminine and romantic silhouettes with rich opulent materials imported from Italy and France, handcrafted from traditional European workshops.

“Beauty always lies in its authenticity.” Sha says, referring to her intention of provoking a reservoir of feelings and fantasies that are outside of the conscious awareness.
