WICHITA FALLS, Texas — A Texas man is accused of trying to steal a bottle of eggnog by hiding it in his pants at a Wichita Falls store and then fighting with security personnel, authorities said.
Kevin Vincent Ellis, 38, of Wichita Falls, was arrested Monday and charged with robbery, failure to identify as a fugitive and violation of probation, according to Wichita County Jail online booking records. The probation violation stemmed from a charge of injuring a child in June 2019, online records show.
According to a loss prevention officer at the United Super Market in Wichita Falls, Ellis allegedly put two hairbrushes in his pants pocket and a bottle of eggnog in his waistband while in the store on Monday night, KFDX-TV reported.
When the officer confronted Ellis, he was pushed and punched by the suspect, who dropped the items, according to the television station.
Authorities said the loss prevention officer had blood on his left elbow and left eye after he was allegedly struck by Ellis.
After Ellis pleaded the Fifth Amendment, officers identified him through his previous arrests, KFDX reported.
Ellis was placed on five years of probation in 2021 for hitting his 4-year-old son, according to the television station. Prosecutors filed to revoke Ellis’ probation for numerous violations.
Ellis remains in the Wichita County Jail with bail set at $10,000, online records show.
